In a Chekhovian countryside, Mountain Hotel residents talk about nothing. A sunbather has a schizophrenic love affair. He cheats on himself with himself. A writer commits an unspeakable act at a birthday party. Even though he did not attend. The Count chases an ingénue he loved once in Paris. But she’s never been to Paris. A young woman pines for her infancy as a rambunctious child of nature with seven siblings…her sheltered youth as the shy, only child of a poor grammar teacher…and her wealthy girlhood as the descendant of a blue-blooded aristocrat. Rotating hotel directors issue vague pronouncements. Dialogues repeat. Roles reverse. Identities are lost. The world revolves and devolves into a whirligig of meaningless movement and language.
Enjoy your stay at the Hotel.
