SUMMARY:Brick Aux presents Market of Dreams – November 20\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:Brick Aux is proud to present\nMARKET OF DREAMS\n+\nROLLING BOURBON COHORT\n***\nfollowed by\nBAD IDEAS BRAINSTORM\n \nJoin us Sunday\, November 20\, starting at 2pm. \nOn offer?\n-An excellent array of vendors\, serving you treats\, fashion and gems.\n-A new take on the ol’ Bourbon Cohorts\nWhen and How?\n2pm-5pm – Incredible vendors will be on hand\, ready to send you walking with unexpected treats.\nBourbon and Conversation in the office.\nMusic\, friends\, fun. \n5-??? – We are going to brainstorm bad ideas with anyone down to think-tank-it-up. How can we can we make art and hold space in a consumer-driven\, capitalistic market place? All ideas\, not just ones that seem “good” or “doable” will be written down and digested later. \nBrick Aux – 628 Metropolitan Avenue  \nMARKET OF DREAMS\nfeaturing:\nGreg Thrasher’s Place Is The Place (art)\nSean W. MacNeil (art)\nTessa Creates (jewelry)\nGeo Kester (knits)\nBobby Malbrough’s Fakery (baked goods)\nZeynep’s Corner (jewelry and candles)\nSusan Strauss via Kate Zibluk (jewelry)\nAND MORE! \n***\nGREG THRASHER\n\nFeatured in Brick Aux Gallery Nov 12-Jan 2 \nI want to agitate the viewer. In negotiating different tensions – those that exist between humans and our environment\, the sacred and profane – I came to Place is the Place. Don’t ask where the place is; feeling lost and disoriented is integral. The components are thoroughly mapped but free from parameters and open to improvisation. Nothing is static; everything is in motion. The voice is sardonic without being cynical. By providing an audit of the past\, present\, and future\, this body of work encourages alternative avenues for societal conduct while simultaneously illustrating a cautionary tale for future generations. \n***\nSEAN W. MACNEIL\n \nHigh quality prints of original graphite drawings\n \nswmacneil.com\n@swmacneil_studio \n***\nTESSA CREATES\n \nTessa Creates explores intimacy\, ritual and care through beadwork. I use vintage beads\, charms\, semi-precious stones and other natural materials to make dynamic\, playful and elegant jewelry. Almost everything is one of a kind! I just play one at this market.  \nNovember menu TBA! \n***\nZEYNEP’S CORNER\n \n\nOnce-loved items\, interesting finds\, handmade jewelry\, and spooky candles! \n\n*** \nSUSAN STRAUSS VIA KATE ZIBLUK\n\nPrior to making jewelry\, Susan Strauss was a social worker and a business owner. She earned a BA in philosophy at Newcomb College and an MSW from Tulane University. While she was a social worker\, she also took clay classes in New Orleans\, in Boulder\, and when she returned to Little Rock in 1994. \nIn 1997\, after working for a few years as a social worker in Little Rock\, she quite suddenly opened River Market ArtSpace\, promoting the work of almost 100 mostly local artists. The gallery was successful\, and she sold it in 2002. At that time\, she began making jewelry (mostly beading) and started taking some classes. She is self-taught in metal clay. Her goddaughter Kate Zibluk is representing her in presenting her jewelry in NYC. \nYou can check out more of her work at https://cals.org/galleries/susan-strauss/
