SUMMARY:Bubble Schmeisis
DESCRIPTION:The Brick presents\nBubble Schmeisis\nby Nick Cassenbaum\nat The Brick Theater — 579 Metropolitan Ave\nMarch 20-29\, 2025\nRunning Time: 70 Minutes \nWriter and street performer Nick Cassenbaum invites you to step into the warmth of the Canning Town Schvitz–East London’s last authentic bath house\, and the backdrop of his beloved and critically-acclaimed play\, Bubble Schmeisis. \nNick Cassenbaum is a UK-based theater-maker who has spent the past 10 years touring the world in his bathrobe\, from London’s biggest theatres\, to community centers in rural England\, to an actual shvitz in Detroit\, and beyond. After over 100 performances\, Bubble Schmeisis is ready to bring the shvitz to Brooklyn! \nAmongst the steam\, live klezmer\, and bathhouse rituals\, Nick will take you on a journey to find the place he belongs. Follow Nick as he shleps his way through summer camps\, barber shops\, and Spurs football (er… soccer) games. \nBubble Schmeisis is a wildly entertaining play\, full of intimate and personal true stories about identity\, home\, and getting schmeised (washed) by old men. \nTRAILER! \nWritten and performed by Nick Cassenbaum\nDirected by Danny Braverman\nDesigned by Bethany Wells\nMusic put together by Daniel Gouly and Josh Middleton\nMusicians Alex Parke and Ira Khonen Temple\nProduced by The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life\n\n\nBefore the 2PM March 23 performance\, at 12:30PM\, The Neighborhood will host a special event —\nPlease join us for Bagels and Beigels\, an exploration of American bagels\, British beigels\, and the differences between them. Facilitated by bagel expert Aidan Everly of BagelUp and Bubble Schmeisis writer and star Nick Cassenbaum\, this pre-show feature will include tastes of both bagels and beigels. Don’t miss this witty (and tasty!) exploration of American\, Jewish\, and British culinary and cultural life.\nRegistration for Bagels and Beigels is included in all tickets purchased for the performance of Bubble Schmeisis on Sunday\, March 23rd.\nFind them: theneighborhoodbk.org\, nickcassenbaum.com/about\, @theneighborhoodbk\, @nickcassenbaum \n \nThe Brick is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
