DESCRIPTION:Brick Aux presents\nIVORIES\nby Riley Elton McCarthy\nMarch 24-26\, 2023\nat Brick Aux – 628 Metropolitan Ave \nRiley Elton McCarthy‘s IVORIES returns to New York City after a smash-hit production at The Tank for PrideFest 2021. IVORIES will then transfer overseas in a coveted spot at Edinburgh Fringe’s opening week. \nSYNOPSIS: Brought back to their childhood home to care for grandmother who is riddled with severe dementia\, young prodigal playwright Sloane and their botanist husband Gwyn are struggling to settle in to a new routine after having their lives uprooted by tragedy. The longer Sloane stays in their grandmother’s home\, the more secrets and childhood trauma begins to resurface\, and the couple soon suspects something deeply sinister is afoot in this small\, suburban New England estate. Good thing their best friend Beckham’s there to help sort out the estate… right? \nIVORIES is written and directed by Riley Elton McCarthy\, produced and sound designed by Gustavo Blaauw\, and assistant directed by Chloe Kramer. IVORIES is lighting designed by Nick Godfrey\, and stage managed by Elena Jenson. IVORIES is a Basement Light Productions flagship production. \nIVORIES runs exactly 100 minutes and is performed in the round.\nPlease note that there is NO intermission\, and NO late seating. Plan to arrive 20 minutes prior to showtime.\nCOVID POLICY: While guidelines will be updated over time as necessary\, at this time we ask that audiences please mask at the performances.\nCONTENT WARNING FOR IVORIES: mentions of animal abuse\, child neglect\, themes of religion\, gaslighting\, a brief moment of assault\, and verbal and emotional abuse. Loud and scary sounds\, low lighting design that may cause minor eye strain for those with eye sensitivity. There is very minimal projection design. While there are brief flickering lights to simulate lightning\, there is no strobe lighting in this production of Ivories. \nPLEASE NOTE PREMIUM SEATS MAY BE INTERACTED WITH BY THE PERFORMERS. \nACCESSIBILITY NOTES: The space is accessible for mobility device users and has an accessible bathroom.
