SUMMARY:?!: New Works 2024 – Night 17
DESCRIPTION:The Brick presents\n?!: New Works 2024 – Night 17\nfeaturing Lianne Elsouki\, Lynn Hodeib\, & Tracy Chahwan\, Meaghan Robichaud\, I Don’t Want To See That\, Ryan Howzell & Kara Hadden\, Tiger and Marks\nApril 27\, 2024\n8pm \nThe spiritual successor to The Exponential Festival\, ?!:New Works features a veritable slew of experiment(al)(ing) artists from a variety of disciplines presenting brand new work. Working it out. With each other. With you. \n \nThe Suicide  by Lianne Elsouki\, Lynn Hodeib\, & Tracy Chahwan – April 26 & 27 \nThe Suicide is a multimedia performance inspired by Tracy Chahwan‘s comic strips of the same title. It revolves around the life of a young Lebanese adult who’s will to live is distorted by her undignified reality and internalized violence. \nSound design by Omar Dewachi\nIllustration by Tracy Chahwan \nFind them: @liannesouki @lynn.hodeib @tracychahwan \n \nSERVICE QUEEN by Meaghan Robichaud – April 26 & 27 \nBased on everyone’s favorite TV show about luxury yachting\, SERVICE QUEEN scuba dives deep deep deep into the psychosis of being on the salty seven seas—an aquatic fantasia featuring coked-out “nepo” babies\, high-IQ octopi\, and merpussy masturbation. Spread your legs and get ready to set sail. Ahoy matey! \n\nStage Manager Jay Isaacs \n\nCreative Consultant Matthew Antoci & Julia VanderVeen \nSpecial thanks to Eva Wolfson and Huxley Rain Garrett \nImage Credit: Heaven Euvrard (@art.by.hae) \ncw: nudity\, mermaid pussy \nFind them: @meaghanrobi \n \nI Don’t Want to See That presents The Rabid Evolution of Tiffany Karter by Tank – April 20 & 27 \nThe Rabid Evolution of Tiffany Karter is a sapphic-horror-romance rock musical set in Brooklyn’s nightlife as a serial killer targets people within it. It follows Kendra Collins\, an aimless accountant seeking thrills wherever she can find them as she reconnects with her high school girlfriend. Who is now the mega socialite\, self-proclaimed icon to great acclaim known as Tiffany Anne Nicole Karter. Their love flourishes as people close to Tiffany go missing and the murders become more and more monstrous. Tiffany wants to know what you’re really scared of. Tiffany wants to know what would you give to be rid of that? Tiffany wants to know what would you do for Tiffany? \nBook and Lyrics by Tank \nMusic by Ande Coughman\, Dakota Scholz\, and Emmy Briggs \nDirected by Emmy Briggs \nFind them: @idontwannaseethatbk @tank.tank.tank.nyc @emmybeenyc @andecoughman @_princeofgoblins \n \nPOPPER by Ryan Howzell & Kara Hadden – April 26 & 27 \nKara is a scientist who has just made a field-shaking discovery. Ryan is a labor organizer fulfilling a decade-old sexual fantasy. Both believe in outing celebrities. Neither is pro-gun. A stage reimagining of the landmark news show DykeTV\, POPPER follows two dykes’ quest — through interviews\, the scientific method\, and lots of explosions — to ensure that love *really* wins. \nImage Credit: Maddie Mahoney \ncw: guns\, popping noises\, the D*** slur \nFind them: @girlryan.h  @krhadden @lalalalatrobe \n \nDavid & Me by Tiger and Marks – April 27 \nDavid & Me is a one-person show theatricalizing aspects of the life of artist David Wojnarowicz and the artist’s own life. Wojnarowicz (1954-1992) created a prolific body of work across visual arts\, performance\, non-fiction writing\, music\, film and queer activism while the AIDS epidemic upended arts and queer communities under a federal government that criminally neglected artists and the poor. \nPerformance includes: text\, movement\, projection\, immersive experience – the audience chooses moments/stories performed by the actor in an organic/chance-based order\, creating a fireside\, communal feel. \nTiger and Marks is a NYC-based performance collective \nFind them: tigerandmarks.com \n*** \n \nThe Brick is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
