SUMMARY:?!: New Works 2026 – Night 1
DESCRIPTION:The Brick presents\n?!: New Works 2026 – Night 1\nFeaturing: The Buong-Buo Collective | Kyra Sims | Sterling Gates | Sarah Grace & Ian Reid\nApril 8\, 2026 at 8pm \n?!:New Works features a veritable slew of experiment(al)(ing) artists from a variety of disciplines presenting brand new work. Working it out. With each other. With you. \n  \n\nBuong/Buo by The Buong-Buo Collective\n“Buong-buo\,” very roughly translated from Tagalog\, means total completeness or wholeness—both in community and within one’s soul. The piece invites audiences to question what it means to belong while navigating intersecting cultural identities. When does one go from being Filipino to being part of the diaspora? In this latest iteration\, Buong/Buo (read as Buong Buo Binali\, translated literally to Buong Buo Broken) asks what does it mean to create absent collaborators\, across oceans and imaginary borders?\nCo-devisers Kenneth Keng\, Carlos Lising\, Red Concepcion\, Danilo Zepeda\, Misha Bernas \n  \n\nOtto in Antarctica by Kyra Sims\n“Hello from the bottom of the world…” Join Kyra as she unpacks her adjectives and her recordings made during her travels in Antarctica with her French horn\, Otto. Featuring electronically processed French horn\, field recordings\, storytelling\, and video art.\nVideo Art by Ryn Hardiman \n  \n\nBrief Encounters by Sterling Gates\nA love story as old as time. \n  \n\nPhysique by Ian Reid & Sarah Grace Goldman\nIn a sleek\, nearly empty gym at the end of history\, the only patrons are the emotionally stilted but yearning Huxley and Odessa. The gym is run by the elderly Bruce\, still nostalgic for the bright jazzercise days of his youth. When a talking Snake with a six-pack invades the gym\, seducing the characters one-by-one\, no one can think of anything to do except wait.\nWritten by Ian Reid & Sarah Grace Goldman\nDirected by Gus Mahoney\, Produced by Trove\, Starring Mitchell Ashe\, Arjun Biju\, Connor Bullock\, Lulu Fairclough-Stewart \n  \n \nThe Brick is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. We rely on the generosity of our patrons. Consider giving a tax-deductible donation today to help make The Brick a sustainable hub of experimental performance for many years to come.
