SUMMARY:OOAAOC: The Secret Extra Volume (53): Your Uncle Richard!
DESCRIPTION:WE TRICKED YOU! \n(Not really)\nWe have one extra special Special Volume of OOAAOC to go before it transforms into a new and fantastic being. \nJoin OOAAOC and Your Uncle Richard Sunday March 21\, 2021 at 8pm ET to get a little sip of magic. \n \nYour Uncle Richard for years has been a practice in bringing people together from a distance\, when we cannot be together. This month\, we are making a cycle with the people closest to us. Eight neighbors from a set of corner buildings in Sunset Park have made a chain of art from home together. Over the last year\, COVID-19 has brought us closer out of fear\, now it is a relief to come together to create. \nHosted by Kelly Lamana and Katelyn Douglass \nFEATURING: \nSyd Island\nFrances Albatross\nAndrés Marín and Eliza Clark\nCara Cifferelli\nBen Rolston\nStephanie Roer\nSusana Ines Lopez\nKelly Lamanna\n \nYOUR UNCLE RICHARD is a long-distance arts collaboration that connects an ever-growing family of strangers. Structured like a game of telephone\, each cycle begins with one artist who creates a prompt and passes it on to the next participant. The chain continues with each artist seeing only the piece that has come before theirs and making a new piece. In the past four cycles\, the project has connected folks from across the world. Performers\, poets\, cartoonists\, chefs- this project is an exercise in hearing and celebrating other perspectives. \nOUT OF AN ABUNDANCE OF CAUTION is an avant-garde microfestival LIVE + online of quick + dirty-fascinating work responding to and from the places and people with whom we select to shelter\, on a wildly inclusive + non hierarchical platform \n \nentry is free \ntipping artists is encouraged \nflying by the seat of our pants here so\nanything can happen \nSunday\, March 21 \n8pm EST Show \nwww.twitch.tv/outofcaution \n*** \nsyd island \n \nsyd island (they/them) is a queer\, nonbinary performing and visual artist. ig: @syd.island \n*** \nFrances Albatross \n \nFrances’ artwork focuses on texture and composition\, referencing techniques and poses of classical art and adding fantastical and macabre elements. Much of her work incorporates obsessive hypnotic texturing in the form of linework and pointillism. Her drawings are tactile\, due to the layering of pen and ink\, and collage of other materials.\n\nShe has exhibited her works in New York\, New Jersey\, and Detroit\, Michigan. She was one of about 300 artists chosen in the 2020 Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition\, and in the American Illustration: 39 Archive. She received her BFA from Parsons School of Design.\n\n\n***\nAndrés Marín and Eliza Clark \n\nEliza is from Cambridge\, MA. Andrés is from Costa Rica. We are an artistically inclined couple\, interested in education\, music\, and recently parents in Sunset Park.\n\n***\nBen Rolston\n\nBrooklyn based bassist / composer Ben Rolston is an accomplished and compelling performer in an eclectic range of musical styles. Ben has performed with important musical voices like Marcus Belgrave\, Laurence Hobgood (Kurt Elling)\, Tim Ries (Rolling Stones)\, Dwight Adams (Stevie Wonder)\, and Nick Dunston\, and at world-class venues like The Newport Jazz Festival\, Birdland\, The Jazz Gallery\, and The Green Mill. \nBorn in Ann Arbor\, Michigan\, Ben attended The University of Michigan to study with master musicians such as Robert Hurst and Geri Allen. Immediately after graduating in 2012\, Ben released his debut album Fables\, described as “full of grandeur and dissonance” and “find of the week” by Dave Sumner (eMusic Contributor). Moving to Detroit after graduation sparked a period of intense growth and musical activity. A talented and close-knit peer group led to established bands\, regular gigs\, a flurry of recordings\, and the founding of POLYFOLD Musical Arts Collective\, a non-profit musicians advocacy group. Since moving to NYC in 2017 Rolston has presented three new bands\, each in a different stylistic realm\, and helped put on a monthly concert series with POLYFOLD featuring some of the best improvisers NY has to offer.\n\n***\nStephanie Roer\n\nStephanie Roer is an early childhood educator who enjoys the art of play and seeing the world through children’s eyes. She is particularly interested in assembling with natural and loose parts\, site specific\, and ephemeral art.\n\n***\nSusana Ines Lopez\n\nI’m an aesthete and collector of interesting things. I deal antiques and design in New York City — my passion and life’s work. I got into the antique trade after becoming curious about the old things that I would find at estate sales and eventually I just had too much stuff. I love discovering the stories behind all kinds of objects. I know a ton about chairs.\n\n\n***\nKelly Lamana\n\nKelly Lamanna is a theater artist and the co-founder of Your Uncle Richard. She is interested in bringing together interdisciplinary minds through performance. She is in love with Sunset Park.\n\n***\n \n
