SUMMARY:Still Fishing
DESCRIPTION:Brick Aux presents\nStill Fishing\nby Drew Sensue-Weinstein\nMay 28\, 2023\nat Brick Aux – 628 Metropolitan Ave\n730pm\nFREE (but please RSVP) \nStill Fishing is a sonic experience. Created by sound and theatre artist Drew Sensue-Weinstein\, the work revolves around Field Recordings taken in two contrasting yet incredibly biodiverse regions of the United States: Southwestern California and the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The recordings of these ecological regions are explored in conjunction with electronic manipulation and deviation\, pitched instrumentation\, drones\, and noise to create a dense dramaturgy of sound. \nComposed and performed by Drew Sensue-Weinstein featuring additional composition and Field Recordings by Maddi Baird. \nThese sounds blur and cut between each other\, contrasting the external\, ecological recordings with an internal landscape of questions\, frustrations\, abstractions\, and anxieties. Drew plays these electroacoustic compositions live to provide space for a variety of emotions we might feel as the most powerful and influential people in the world continue to drive us headfirst into a mass extinction event. \ncw: loud sounds\, surprising or abrupt sound \nFind them: @whodrewdrew (instagram) Drew-Weinstein-2 (venmo) \nThe work was originally presented as an MFA graduation thesis at California Institute of the Arts in the Wild Beast Theatre. It featured work by Drew Sensue-Weinstein and co-compositions with Maddi Baird\, Rachel Epperly\, June Higgins\, and Yolanda-Tianyi Shao \n*** \n \nThe Brick is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
