Six performers exist together–in a basement, a bunker, away from the danger of the world yet remain tied to it in some way. The structures that oppress us want us to feel panic – want us to feel helpless – isolated—alone.

Rooted in theatrical intensity, collective humanity, and a love of play; we have constructed our own Panic Encyclopedia in hopes of illuminating and detaching ourselves from the way in which fear and anxiety are inflicted upon us as much as initiated within ourselves.

Lauded as “a cutting edge…boundary-pushing festival” by CBS New York, “[The Exponential Festival] is where you go to see things in [their] purest and most inventive state.” (WNYC) “[Exponential] has curated a slate of emerging experimental performers who blur and complicate the boundaries of theater, comedy, visual art, and dance.” (Brooklyn Rail) Since 2016, Exponential has presented the work of 1,200 NYC-based artists to 17,300 audience members in 23 (primarily Brooklyn) venues. Our artists present multi-week runs, one-offs, and variety shows throughout the month of January in theaters, back rooms, basements, and box-stores—making “The Exponential [Festival] as big as Brooklyn itself.” (American Theatre Magazine)

A Note About The Brick’s COVID’s Protocols: As of August 16th, New York City requires proof of vaccination in order to attend indoor performances. We will be enforcing this policy for all upcoming performances. In addition, we ask that all audience members remain masked. All staff and performers will be vaccinated; performers may not be masked. Audience can provide proof of vaccination with a government issued I.D. along with a physical copy or picture of your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card, the NYC COVID Safe Pass or the New York State Excelsior Pass. We are navigating this day to day just like all of you, so please be patient with staff.
