DESCRIPTION:The Exponential Festival and The Brick present\nCASSANDRA\nby Susannah Yugler\nat The Brick Theater — 579 Metropolitan Ave\nJanuary 9-11\, 2025 \nThe cursed Cassandra\, a true prophet that no one believes\, desperately tries to save what’s left of her home from self-obsessed siblings\, a depressive mother and the machinations of the gods. Wavering between 12th century B.C. and 2024 A.D.\, CASSANDRA reimagines Euripides’ The Trojan Women as a phantasmagoria of comic selfishness and horror. \nUsing a pre-recorded script and a cast of dancers\, dialogue acts only as a score for the movements\, gestures\, and tableaux vivants on stage\, illustrating multiple parallel narratives: of a women-led talent agency\, of ancient war\, of corporate America\, and of the delusions that sustain them. \nCREATIVE TEAM \nwritten & directed by Susannah Yugler\nmovement made in collaboration with the ensemble: Nick Alselmo\, Josie Bettman\, Joel Dean\, Robin Denzer\, Aimee Grumbach\, Ellie Quiring\, and Vita Taurke\noriginal music performed by Devin Shaffer\n \nFind them: ​susannahyugler.com\, @_s00ze_​​​ \nCASSANDRA was developed in part during a Baryshnikov Arts Residency\, taking place at Baryshnikov Arts Center\, New York\, NY\, and made with materials sourced from Materials For The Arts (MFTA). \n \nTHE EXPONENTIAL FESTIVAL\nJANUARY’S BROOKLYN-BASED THEATRE FESTIVAL\n~ A pleasure\, a mess\, a thrill\, and a dream. ~​ \nExponential is a month-long January festival dedicated to New York City-based emerging artists working in experimental performance. The participants in this multi-artist\, multi-venue festival are committed to ecstatic creativity in the face of commercialism. Exponential is driven by inclusiveness and a diversity of artists\, forms\, and ideas coupled with utopian resource-sharing\, mentoring and the championing of risky\, rigorous work in eclectic fields. theexponentialfestival.org \n  \n \nThe Brick is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. That stop has an elevator from the street to the platform. Our theater has a driveway leading up to the door\, which means you can access it directly from the street without having to go over a curb. Our front door is ADA compliant. There is a small ramp with an ADA compliant grade that leads up to the box office window and further on to the house. We are happy to reserve accessible seats for folks who need them.
