JENNIFER MILLS NEWS XXI: Celebrating 20 years of the Jennifer Mills News plus one more year
by Jennifer Mills
March 6-19
at Brick Aux Gallery – 628 Metropolitan Ave
Opening Reception: March 10, 2023 5-9

Brick Aux proudly presents JENNIFER MILLS NEWS XXI: Celebrating 20 years of the Jennifer Mills News plus one more year, marking over two decades of personal top stories and stunningly mundane journalism about Jennifer Mills by Jennifer Mills.

Established 21 years ago, the Jennifer Mills News is a semi-weekly newsletter that reports life’s forgettable moments as breaking news. Reporter, editor, and subject of all articles, Jennifer Mills, started the JMN in 2002 when she was 17 in her high school computer lab. The newsletter has not changed in form or content since the very first issue, consistently breaking stories such as Girl Gets Internet, Woman’s Can Opener Breaks For Good, and Woman Sees Snake.

Mills, 38, attempted to celebrate the newsletter’s perfect 20 year anniversary in 2022 but, ”I didn’t organize an exhibition in time,” said Mills, adding, “So let’s celebrate everyone’s favorite milestone— the 21st anniversary!” An installation of the full printed archive will be on display. Read a few headlines and leave, or strap in and read all 21 years. Either way this junkyard of journalism will leave you rethinking what newsworthy means to you.
