March 13, 2022 3-5pm ET at The Brick Theater

This class is for anyone who has opinions about theater and wants to learn how they are constructively expressed. Attendees will read some examples of contemporary criticism, dissect the ingredients employed in each piece, and learn about the many forms arts journalism can take. Led by arts journalist and The Brooklyn Rail Theater Editor Billy McEntee, this interactive course will provide attendees with a host of resources and tools needed to pen their own reviews. Come to one part, or both — no prior writing or criticism experience is necessary!

Billy McEntee is a Brooklyn-based writer. He’s written for The Washington Post, Vanity Fair, Travel + Leisure, and Playbill and is also the Theater Editor for The Brooklyn Rail. His play Cory and Smin’s Love Conquers the Earth was featured in Time Out New York and received a Queens Arts Council grant, and his short film Lindsay Lindsey Lyndsey has received screenwriting prizes and will premiere this year. Billy has taught with The School of The New York Times and was a Fellow at the 2018 National Critics Institute at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center.
