The Brick presents
Marques Walls
Solo exhibition
Brick Aux Gallery
September 8 – October 7, 2025

Marques Walls is a multidisciplinary freelance mixed media artist currently residing and making art in New York City. At the age of 8, in his parent’s trophy shop, Marques began creating and building the foundation of what he didn’t know at the time, would be his future art career. His developmental process ranges from collage to abstract mark making to resin work to Warhol style pop-culture portraiture. Often times, he finds his work resulting in an amalgamation of all the above.
Marques’ work is a self described journey through self discovery via the purging of ideas, thoughts and concepts that he describes as a “thorn in his side” until the work is expelled and put onto canvas. Marques’ artistic approach is to collaborate with the natural ebb and flow of life’s experiences while simultaneously refusing to allow the darker events to hinder the creation of work that simply feels good to the soul. Marques’ work serves as a window peering into the unknown but also a mirror peering into the even deeper unknown. He likes to think of his work as journal entries put to canvas to represent his life’s many checkpoints; the good and the bad.
His eclectic portfolio is a representation of inhales and exhales; the deeply profound balanced by moments of ease and humor. For his viewers, he hopes his work can serve as both a mirror into the self and a parachute for those that are currently struggling with that image.
‘Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one.’ – Stella Adler
