Please consider submitting your work for ?!:New Works 2026, The Brick’s access point for new work, in community! We encourage artists from all disciplines and at all points of their career to apply.

ABOUT

?!:New Works is a yearly, multi-week festival of new works of performance that push the edges of process / practice / form. It’s a performance party, a showcase of new ideas and big risks, a festival, and an opportunity to become part of The Brick’s artistic community.

SPECIFICS

Artists will present a piece between 1-20 minutes long on a shared bill. No shared bill is the same and each bill includes up to five different pieces. Each piece has 1-2 performances during the festival, depending on availability.

Tech time is typically 1 hour. Simpler is better. Easy on, easy off. Think creative and ambitious pop up with a collaborative spirit!

The Brick team provides production management support, board op, box office staff, and a small honorarium.

Historically each performance has been allocated $50/performance night.

All applications will be reviewed and artists will be notified by January 1, 2026. Performances for ?!: New Works will take place between April 2-26, 2026. There will be a mandatory info session at The Brick Theater on February 16, 2026 7-9PM.

CURATORIAL SUGGESTIONS

Our selection committee will prioritize submissions that consider and value the community nature of a shared bill.

Excerpts of longer works are not ineligible but works that form a complete arc within a short duration will be prioritized.

If you are currently a matriculated student you are welcome to apply but our committee will not prioritize submissions from thesis coursework or pieces that will be presented in an academic setting.
