Join Fringe and Fur for a reading of Jeana Scotti’s The Possessed Girls of St. Mary’s directed by Tara Elliot at Brick Aux on March 9th at 7PM ET followed by a community party and conversation with a chapter representative of Period to launch the future development of this play.
We ask all who attend to bring period supplies (pads, tampons, hygiene wipes, travel sized feminine washes, etc.). All supplies will be donated to Expecting Relief.

About the Play:
In 1969, at St. Mary’s School for Girls, thirteen-year-old Alex is about to make her Confirmation, but after rumors spread that she gave the parish’s monsignor a heart attack during her confession, she begins to bleed. Which she believes can only be one thing, a sign that she’s possessed. A possession she believes she brought onto herself because she can’t stop masturbating to the idea of girls in her class telling her what to do and to Dick Van Dyke in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It starts to spread to the other girls in the grade and threatens to take over the school, the country, and their bodies. A look at the way in which shame can spread and manifest when a select few in power are the ones controlling the narrative.
