This week at the Aux Reading League we will be looking at the play Voices in the Dark by John Pielmeier, a good old fashion ghost story.
ARL is open to all theater makers and is a great way to find a fun theater community of cool theater people reading cool theater things!

ARL is a new program at the Brick Aux dedicated to providing a space for emerging artists to read plays, musicals, essays and other ‘cool theater things’ with other emerging artists. The primary goal of ARL is for members to be able to build a reservoir of like-minded theater makers that they can turn to and rely on for their theatrical endeavors. The group will meet several times a month and read aloud different works and then discuss, workshop, act, and/or direct various scenes from the text. This will give the directors a chance to flex their directing muscles, the actors a space to act, designers a chance to discover and everyone a chance to make new connections and have a good time. ARL is catered towards new and emerging artists in theater. In order to curate an intimate space, each session will be limited to between 10 and 20 and will meet for between 2 and 3 hours depending on the length of the piece being read.
Creating theater is intrinsically tied to creating a community of artists. One of the hardest aspects of finding and making work in NYC is finding amazing people that you want to work with in the first place. Let the Aux Reading League be that place!
Please feel free to reach out to Harrison, the program’s curator at harrison.brickaux@gmail.com with any questions.
