An Evening of Thrills, Chills, and Coney Island Films
Curated by Coney Island USA
June 17, 2024
at The Brick Theater – 579 Metropolitan
Coney Island USA shares two rarely-seen Coney Island films by Jim McDonnell:
“Did you ever Wonder?,” shot in 2019, documents the Vourderis family, proprietors of the landmarked Wonder Wheel and the seasonal preparations involved in operating Coney Island’s favorite ride.
“Longest Friday of the Year,” shot in 2015, was filmed in one day and takes the viewer on a behind-the-scenes tour of some of Coney Island’s most colorful sights and even more colorful people.
…But that’s not all! The cast of the world famous Coney Island Circus Sideshow will be performing their incredible acts and unusual feats before the films.
Please consider supporting Coney Island USA, south Brooklyn’s most unique non-profit arts organization! Generosity from folks like you ensures that Coney Island USA can continue to bring you innovative arts programming — the Coney Island Circus Sideshow, the Mermaid Parade, Burlesque at the Beach, the Coney Island Film Festival, and the Coney Island Museum — for many years to come!

cw: The sideshow feats presented are performed by real people. These people are highly trained and well skilled. They will make you gasp, laugh and maybe even shriek. Do not try this stuff at home! You’ve been warned.
