Parrhesia – Reolutionary Acts (Section 4)
by Marija Krtolica

Parrhesia – a new dance-theatre work takes as its point of departure Michel Foucault’s lectures The Courage of Truth (1983/84) and the concept of parrhesia – saying, expressing everything, and telling truth to power. The work will engage the relationship between: 1) silent action and speech 2) deliberate creation of spectacle (representation), and the unconscious (repressed) non-verbal and verbal discourse. The section four – revolutionary acts, inspired by the historical documents — images, slogans, manifestoes from the Paris Commune, Spartacist Uprising, Chinese Cultural Revolution, Black Panthers & Malcolm X, and 1968 in U.S. and Europe; evokes the resistance to power, heroic acts, and desire to change the status quo. There are two textual sources for this section: The Communist Hypothesis by Alain Badiou, and a poem by Bertholt Brecht – “What has Happened?”.

MAD Company presents: Something Is Far Away
by Enrique Huili

Something Is Far Away is an experimental play that focuses on 3 characters whose lives may or may not connect, where each person’s desires are desperate and mundane. Trapped in a labyrinth void, continuing to linger, and haunting their lives as they try to understand themselves. Written for the absurd theater, this play forces them to meditate on their unsatisfactory grief.

Sponge vs…
by Nick Alselmo

“Sponge vs…” is a solo that takes a look into the mind of someone struggling with the internal conflict of feeling safe in solace, weighed down by insecurity, and displeased with the false sense of progress in human interactions. Movement and voice are used as a device for the performer to unpack these issues.
